Reliance Jio extends 5G service in Tamil Nadu

Reliance Jio Infocomm expanded its 5G coverage in Tamil Nadu, connecting 11 cities to its network, bringing the total to 184 across the country. The company announced Tuesday.

Reliance Jio stated that it has coverage in Chennai, Madurai Tiruchirappalli and Salem. It is also the first operator to offer True 5G services.

Reliance Jio Infocomm announced that it had invested Rs 40.446 crore in Tamil Nadu for 5G services. The initial coverage was Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai. Later, the service will be expanded to include Tiruchirappalli. Salem, Hosur, Vellore, Madurai and Tiruchirappalli. Today, a spokesperson for the company stated that Jio True 5G services will be launched in 50 more cities across 17 states, union territories and total 184 cities.

The spokesperson stated that this is “by far the largest rollout of 5G services not only in India but around the globe…We are grateful for the continuous support from the government of Tamil Nadu in our quest to digitize every region.” Jio users living in these cities will be invited to the Jio Welcome Offer to enjoy unlimited Data at speeds up to 1Gbps+, beginning today, the company stated.
